Lisa & Sylvian

The Nielsen Restaurant Vaucluse, NSW

16th June 2018

I married my sister!  This was an intimate family wedding in the beautiful setting of the Nielsen Restaurant in Vaucluse, where the grounds of Nielsen Park meet the ocean.

The ceremony was so relaxed that the bridesmaid (my granddaughter Hollie) hung onto my skirt, and the little pageboy (my grandson Ryder) held onto my hand throughout the whole ceremony.

Sylvian is an artist, known as ‘Sylvian the Fish Man’ in his home town of Eze, which is where he met Lisa who was living and studying in France at the time.  So as you can imagine, there were many creative touches to the floral decorations at the venue, which were installed by Sylvian, with the help of his son Fabio and my partner Allan.

The bride arrived to the nostalgic sound of bagpipes, which prompted great emotion amongst those guests with Scottish ancestry.

There were nervous giggles and the occasional tear as personal vows were shared, and some good laughs during the speech from Allan, who had the honour of being Best Man (and looked resplendent in his kilt).

It was such a joy to officiate for family with family ☺
